Method of making herbal pesticides from mahogany fruit

Mahogany (mahogany tree) Some species of the genus Swietenia belonging to the genus Meliaceae (Neem). Three of these species are specifically identified as mahogany.

The species are Swietenia mahagoni (L.) Jacq., Swietenia macrophylla King, and Swietenia humilis Zucc.

Two species of Swietenia mahagoni and Swietenia macrophylla are cultivated in Bangladesh. Swietenia macrophylla is the most common tree.

The leaves are quite large and the trees are up to 50 feet tall. Extensive use of chemical pesticides in agriculture poses a serious threat to the environment and health.

Therefore, the use of organic pesticides instead of chemical pesticides should be increased.

Use of Mahogany Fruit as Pesticide :

Here is the method of use and application of the extract and oil collected from Mahogany Fruit as an herbal pesticide .

First method:

2 to 2.5 kg of mahogany fruit should be chopped and crushed and soaked in 10 liters of water. After 3-4 days the extract is suitable for use.

The extract should be sifted through a cloth and mixed with a small amount (50 gm) of soapy water or detergent and sprayed on the crop field.

The mixture is beneficial for rice crop. The extract plays an effective role in controlling the pests of rice crop (majra, leaf wrap, brown tree hopper).

The extract can also be used in vegetables (cabbage, cauliflower, cauliflower, tomato, bean, barbati).

The second time it is soaked in 5 liters of water and after 3-4 days it can be sprayed again.

The use of paddy and vegetable seedlings in the seedbed as a residue of the extract / husk as herbal organic fertilizer reduces insects in seedling production.

Method 2:

Half-ripe mahogany fruit seeds are crushed or crushed in the amount of 200 to 250 gms and then 500 gms of bark powder or leaves are taken in 5 liters of water in a well-heated pot for 40-45 minutes.

After 5 minutes of burning, 50 gms of cloth should be put in a mixture of raw soap or detergent, 10 gms of mulberry, and 5 gms of Sohaga in a clay pot.

Stir the mixture with a wooden or bamboo stick. When the extract is prepared in this way, it should be cooled and mixed with 5 times the amount of water and sprayed on the leaves of the affected tree.

 If the extract made in this way is used in 1-2 days, good results can be obtained. It is effective in controlling insects of an eggplant crop. Especially useful in controlling jab insects, leaf borers, and fungal diseases.

Method 3:

200-250 gms of seeds are peeled, soaked in 1 liter of water for 3-4 days, sifted, mixed with another 9 liters of water to make an extract, mixed with 1 teaspoon of jet powder, and sprayed on the crop field Effective.

For stored grains:

200 gms of mahogany fruit seed powder can be used for 1 gram of cereal grains (the seeds should be dried well in the sun and powdered). It should be mixed well with cereals and stored in airtight packets.

Medicinal properties/benefits:

  1. Diabetic patients can soak the white shell inside the mahogany fruit seeds in water to control the disease. This will keep the sugar under control.
  2. The extract of mahogany bark strengthens and enhances digestion.
  3. Eating beech, fruit and root powder prevents cancer.
  4. Oil is made from the white part of mahogany seeds. This oil is used as an herbal pesticide.
